Surgical procedures often cause anxiety and concern, but proper recovery can significantly facilitate the healing process, prevent potential complications, and counteract post-operative pain. Therefore, it is important to read and follow the post-treatment recommendations presented here.

After a surgical procedure, you should:

  • bite down on a gauze pad for 15-20 minutes
  • do not eat or drink for up to 2 hours after the procedure
  • you can rinse your mouth after 24 hours, but do not rinse intensively for a week
  • avoid warm things for 48 hours and prefer everything cold. Anything warm (food, drink, sun) will hinder healing, while everything cold will improve it
  • do not consume alcohol or smoke cigarettes for at least 48 hours
  • avoid sleeping on the side where the procedure was performed for 2 days
  • maintain a liquid/semi-liquid diet for 4-5 days
  • cool the surgical site for 48 hours using the 15min/15min rule
  • chew on the opposite side
  • brush teeth without toothpaste on the first day, avoid the surgical area in the following days, and then gently clean with a soft toothbrush for about 2 weeks
  • avoid excessive physical exertion for a week.
